problem of growth of banyan tree sapling in drainage pipes

Attaching a video of a Root of a Ficus family sapling (probably Banyan) being removed from a drainage pipe. The sapling above was relatively small but over time it sent roots right down in search of the earth. Residents who have any growth on their roofs or walls should immediately remove it when the saplings are small. Such growth can create big problems for drainage system with time and shall be cleaned immediately as noticed.

OMG, thanks a lot for sharing this video. Handling such issues at an early stage can save Housing societies from bigger problems in drainage systems. We will immediately conduct a maintenance and cleaning drive of drainage in our society.

Never thought that such things could happen. What can be done to stop this from happening?
